Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services

Created in 1995 by virtue of the Act respecting health services and social services, the principal mandate of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS) is to organize health and social service programs in the region, which includes 14 villages in Nunavik. It also evaluates the effectiveness of these programs and ensures that users receive high-quality services that meet their needs. Additionally, it is responsible for the efficient management and use of financial resources allocated to the Nunavik region.

The NRBHSS is an organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the populations in the 14 communities within its territory. Its overarching mission is to adapt health and social service programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region.

Mandate

Develop a mobile application that aims to bridge communication in the medical environment between Western clinicians and Indigenous peoples. The application will include the use of writing in three languages, as well as the syllabic Pigiarniq Inuktitut, along with audio capabilities in three languages.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt visual elements from a PDF format.
  • Develop a mobile application for both tablets and smartphones.

Challenges

  • Ensure that the application functions properly without requiring an internet connection.
  • Create a user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) that are simple to understand, specifically designed for users who may be illiterate or unfamiliar with human anatomy.
